Being Corn Fed

Have your heard the country song by Shannon Brown from the year 2005? I heard it the other day (hadn’t heard it in quite a few years) and found it ironic that Corn Fed Girl is what I chose for my blog after listening to the lyrics.  The following are the words to the chorus of her song:

You never hear me apologise,
For growin’ up strong, growin’ up right.
Livin’ life by the Golden Rule.
Say: “Yes, Ma’am,” “Thank You.”
Green fields for miles an’ miles,
Ain’t nothin’ but country on the radio dial.
I thank the good Lord I was born an’ bred,
Corn fed.

While there is more on our radios that country music (I think to think we are a little more “global” than that), most of this is true.  I was born and raised a farm girl, held responsible for my actions, excpted to give respect to those around me, and taught a work ethic out on the farm.

I DO thank the Lord that I was born and bred Corn Fed.  To me, there is nothing better and I can’t imagine myself being anywhere else to be!
